Our doctoral program in education aims to deepen your knowledge of the field through academic research rooted in real-world educational practices across diverse environments. You'll explore educational challenges within philosophical, sociocultural, and policy frameworks, equipping yourself for diverse roles in research, teaching, and leadership. Our alumni serve in institutions ranging from higher education to K-12 schools, as well as various related professions. You'll collaborate with faculty specialists in areas including community youth development, curriculum design/teacher training, experiential/outdoor learning, and leadership/policy research. You'll customize your academic path according to your interests, partnering with an advisory committee to create a program featuring core requirements, focused coursework, interdisciplinary electives, and research training. The program accommodates both full-time and part-time students.
The education doctorate prepares graduates for research, teaching, and leadership roles across multiple sectors. Alumni work in educational institutions from universities to elementary schools, while others pursue careers as policy advisors, nonprofit leaders, educational consultants, and research specialists.
Students admitted to the program must have completed a master's degree in education or a related field. Entering students are generally expected to have some experience working in areas related to education, broadly conceptualized. To apply, candidates must submit a Graduate School application and transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework.

Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
Applications must be completed by the following deadlines in order to be reviewed for admission: Fall: Recommended Deadline 12/15; Final Deadline 1/15. Applications received after the recommended deadline will be reviewed only if space available.
