Our department provides comprehensive study of human growth across infancy, childhood, and adolescence, with some focus on aging processes. Key research areas we emphasize include cognitive growth, emotional and social development, developmental psychology disorders, and neuroscience related to social and emotional development. Distinct research concentrations exist within these domains. Studies on mental state understanding and viewpoint adoption intersect with investigations into cognitive control and self-management skills. This focus area also links to examinations of self-assessment, emotional drives, and choice behaviors. Another active research stream explores how infants interpret actions, language, and patterns in their visual, linguistic, and musical surroundings. Additionally, numerous faculty examine how social environments - from immediate family and peer relationships to broader cultural and global factors - influence wellbeing throughout childhood and adolescence.
