The Behavior Analysis and Therapy specialization centers on applying evidence-based learning principles to assist individuals with developmental, psychological, social, or medical challenges. Graduates gain expertise in assessing needs, fostering skill development, evaluating interventions, and instructing other professionals in assessment and training methodologies.
Our Ph.D. program adopts a mentorship approach, equipping students for academic and research careers. Prospective Ph.D. candidates should possess adequate graduate-level preparation for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board examination or may need to fulfill additional program requirements.
Basic and Applied Research: Our facilities include a comprehensive basic research lab and an on-campus autism clinic, offering exceptional research possibilities in both theoretical and practical domains. We stand among the limited programs providing fundamental research opportunities with non-human subjects.
Research Training: Following a junior colleague mentorship approach, students can focus their work with a primary faculty advisor. Participation in conference presentations and scholarly publications is expected.
Board Certified Behavior Analysts: The program facilitates completion of BCBA certification hours, after which students will mentor fellow BCBA candidates.
Scientist-Practitioner Model: We maintain commitment to the Boulder model, balancing clinical practice with research development.
Teaching: Graduate students who have earned their M.S. degree will have the opportunity to serve as primary instructors under faculty guidance.
Financial Support: Comprehensive assistance is provided, with guaranteed funding for first-year students and typically continued for four years. Qualified students receive stipends, tuition waivers, and complete training through teaching, research assistantships, or externships.
