The School of Music and Dance stands as the leading music higher education institution in the Pacific Northwest region. Boasting the most extensive full-time, resident music faculty on the West Coast north of Los Angeles, our distinguished professors regularly perform and conduct research across local, national, and international platforms, offering students direct insight into professional artistic and academic careers.
Our curriculum encompasses diverse areas including music instruction, performance training, teaching methodologies, creative composition, orchestral direction, jazz programs, musical analysis, historical music studies, world music traditions, music historical literature, audio technology, and music-focused liberal arts.
Aspiring musicians seeking intensive conservatory training can pursue the bachelor of music (BMus) degree or select specialized tracks in music history/literature, music theory, or music technology. For those desiring a comprehensive liberal arts foundation with a music focus, we offer bachelor of arts (BA) and bachelor of science (BS) degrees with general music or popular music studies concentrations. The general music concentration requires about two years of music studies without audition or portfolio prerequisites.
