The family and human services (FHS) program attracts students dedicated to enhancing people's wellbeing. Mirroring the varied nature of social services, this interdisciplinary program incorporates knowledge from psychology, counseling, social work, prevention science, public health, human development, and sociology.
Working alongside passionate classmates, you'll examine and design community support systems for families and children. The curriculum teaches practical strategies for helping families navigate modern challenges while covering evidence-based approaches, prevention methods, and organizational policies.
Through academic study and hands-on training, FHS students develop expertise in personal, group, and community-level support, professional ethics, effective communication, and teamwork.
FHS students enter as part of a cohort, progressing through the program's structured curriculum together at the same pace.
These cohorts typically represent diverse backgrounds across race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, age, religion, relationship status, ability, military service, and sexual orientation.
