Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese can choose among three distinct pathways: the culture-focused track, the language-intensive program, or the linguistics-centered option. These specialized tracks allow students to tailor their studies without appearing on official transcripts. Similar academic focus areas may be called concentrations, specializations, emphases, fields of study, or academic tracks. Develop advanced Chinese language skills through engaging, interactive, and intensive coursework. The program explores Chinese culture, society, literature, and linguistics from both historical and modern viewpoints. The Chinese major offers three specialized directions: language studies, cultural studies, or linguistic studies. With guidance from departmental advisors, students can choose the pathway that best aligns with their academic interests in Chinese studies. The Chinese program is part of the broader Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures.
