The Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages equips students for careers in education, advanced language studies, research, and professional roles across government, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. Graduates stand out for their multilingual abilities and cultural awareness. Students are advised to pair their major with a minor or additional major in a complementary discipline. Specializations available include Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, and Spanish, with minor options spanning Arabic, Chinese, Classical Studies, French, German Studies, Italian Studies, Japanese Studies, Korean Studies, Latin, Russian, and Spanish.
The Korean major trains students for professional translation, international affairs, government service, global business, cultural industries, and teaching positions either in Korea or domestic schools, while also preparing them for graduate programs in Korean studies. This program focuses on building strong Korean language competence, specialized translation abilities, and comprehensive knowledge of both South and North Korean societies.
Korean majors must complete at least 30 credits of upper-level Korean courses (300+) with minimum C grades, covering language, culture, literature, and translation. Only two English-taught courses (6 credits) count toward major requirements. Study abroad participation is highly encouraged.
