The University of Oklahoma's School of Music is dedicated to fostering education, creative expression, research, and community engagement. Our faculty and students strive to excel in musical instruction, push boundaries through performance and scholarship, and strengthen the field through active participation in professional organizations worldwide. Founded in 1903 as OU's second academic school, we've held continuous membership in the National Association of Schools of Music since 1931. As Oklahoma's sole institution offering doctoral music programs, we serve our community through the artistic and academic achievements of our faculty, students, and graduates. OU grants music degrees across multiple disciplines including composition, education, music history, performance, and theory. While honoring our rich heritage, we continuously adapt our curriculum to equip students for the dynamic challenges of tomorrow's musical landscape.
