Regular rehearsals, performances, and concerts allow students to collaborate closely with faculty members, sometimes even performing together. Alongside the 12 resident jazz faculty, many guest artists conduct workshops and perform alongside students. Jazz Studies majors also benefit from the wide array of classes, ensembles, and workshops available through CCM's other departments.
The thorough program features weekly one-on-one lessons with professional jazz instructors, improvisation training in small group settings, in-depth jazz theory, arranging, composition, history, and keyboard skills courses, as well as complementary subjects like electronic music, audio production, sound technology, music business, and global music traditions.
As part of the University of Cincinnati, a leading research university with over 40,000 students, CCM leverages its position within a large public institution to cultivate well-rounded artists and scholars prepared for global careers in the arts.
