The Division of Landscape Architecture challenges students to approach environmental concerns with innovative and analytical thinking, focusing on how humans interact with the land. Student work is deeply connected to the Great Plains region, Oklahoma City's urban landscape, and rural communities across the state. Our graduates emerge as adaptable professionals prepared for careers in both public and private sector landscape architecture. We instill in students a deep environmental responsibility, excellent design communication abilities, and an understanding of modern resource challenges facing designers. Alumni gain expertise in efficient design methodologies, multi-scale project management, and cutting-edge research areas in planning and design. The First Professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program welcomes students from varied academic backgrounds—whether English, performing arts, environmental science, or healthcare—without requiring prior landscape architecture training. This M620 program holds accreditation from the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB), making it Oklahoma's sole accredited graduate landscape architecture program. Program Duration: Students without design backgrounds typically complete the full-time program in six semesters (minimum 62 credit hours), while those with architecture degrees or pre-professional landscape architecture education may have modified requirements.
