The Master of Arts in Geography and Environmental Sustainability program equips students with professional expertise in geographical concepts and methodologies. This M.A. program offers both thesis and non-thesis pathways.
The thesis track necessitates 30 graduate-level credit hours. Required courses include Contemporary Geographical Thought (6973), Research and Writing in Geography (6953), two department-exclusive graduate seminars, plus 4-6 thesis credit hours. Students must also develop a committee-approved thesis and successfully defend it.
For the non-thesis alternative, students complete 36 graduate credit hours, covering Contemporary Geographical Thought (6973), Research and Writing in Geography (6953), and two departmental graduate seminars. This path concludes with a comprehensive final examination.
