Exploring communication and technology examines how innovations shape our understanding of space, time, influence, and selfhood, while also transforming information dissemination and raising ethical dilemmas. Both content and delivery methods impact our social environment. Technological access increasingly determines privilege and authority. What cultural and literacy impacts did the printing press create? Throughout history and across societies, who gained reading privileges and who faced restrictions—and what drove these decisions? What explains the original QWERTY keyboard layout? How do users input thousands of Chinese characters using compact Western keyboards or mobile devices? In what ways has mobile technology transformed organized crime and insurgent tactics? Air conditioning's emergence dramatically decreased porch construction, subsequently diminishing neighborly interactions that once flourished during evening gatherings. Digital platforms intentionally blend social and advertising content, rapidly spreading both commercial promotions and political propaganda.
