The Graduate Certificate in Technical and Professional Communication (TPC) equips participants with advanced workplace and technical communication skills for immediate or future career applications. This 15-credit program can complement an existing UNM graduate student's MA or Ph.D. studies, serving as a specialization in TPC (particularly for ENGL graduate students). Alternatively, it's available as an independent credential, perfect for professionals in fields like science, technology, nonprofit management, engineering, and military service. Students can complete the Certificate through in-person classes with some online components or entirely through digital coursework. Grounded in principles of social justice and ethics, the program shapes the development of various communication materials including reports, feasibility studies, white papers, usability tests, data visualizations, and procedural documents. Prospective students must possess a Bachelor's degree. The curriculum involves 15 credit hours of study culminating in a final portfolio (submitted to the Program Director) showcasing the student's top work along with a reflective memo addressing key program outcomes. No foreign language proficiency is required to earn the Certificate.
