The University of Oklahoma's School of Visual Arts provides a distinctive Ph.D. program featuring four specialized tracks: Native American Art History, Western American Art, European Art Studies, and Contemporary Art Theory. As Oklahoma's most extensive art institution, it stands alone in offering doctoral studies in art history. With around 400 students enrolled across undergraduate and graduate programs in various visual arts disciplines, the school boasts a distinguished faculty including 28 full-time professionals, a resident sculptor, the H. Russell Pitman Art History Chair, and the Charles Marion Russell Western Art Endowed Professor.
