The OU School of Music's mission is to foster academic growth, instructional excellence, research, artistic creation, and community engagement. Both faculty and students will champion the education field, expand musical knowledge through performance and study, and strengthen the music community via professional contributions locally and globally. Founded in 1903 as OU's second academic school, it has held NASM accreditation since 1931. As Oklahoma's sole music school offering doctoral programs, it supports its community through the creative and academic achievements of its members. OU grants music degrees across composition, education, music history, performance, and theory disciplines. While honoring its heritage, the School continuously adapts its curriculum to equip students for a dynamic, multicultural world.
