The Instrument Studies division provides a Master of Music performance degree with concentrations in: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, guitar, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, and multiple woodwind instruments. Our students and alumni consistently earn accolades in top-tier competitions across all musical styles and secure professional roles with orchestras, wind ensembles, and academic institutions worldwide.
When you enroll in UNT's Instrumental Performance graduate program, you become part of an accomplished network of current and former students who have triumphed in prestigious competitions and hold positions with symphony orchestras, concert bands, and music schools across the globe.
A defining feature of our program is the personalized instruction from internationally acclaimed performers and educators. Our Instrumental Studies division boasts 34 full-time faculty members and 20 adjunct professors from elite ensembles including the Dallas Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and Dallas Opera. As one of America's most extensive music institutions, we provide unique opportunities to engage with leading musicians and scholars through specialized workshops and events hosted by our various departments.
Prospective students without a UNT organ degree must present a 30-minute audition of undergraduate-level repertoire before a faculty panel for admission consideration.
