The Studio Art Department is dedicated to nurturing M.F.A. students' intellectual and artistic development, supporting their professional and studio work, and equipping them for lasting achievement as influential cultural contributors. Our program tailors to each student's unique requirements by cultivating conceptual, aesthetic, and technical abilities. During their studies, participants explore interdisciplinary theories and methodologies while immersing themselves in rigorous fine arts practice. Located within a top-tier research university, CVAD offers easy access to Dallas and Fort Worth's thriving arts scenes.

Our graduate program is guided by active artists and educators with national and international reputations for innovative scholarship. The studio art faculty are deeply committed to helping students reach their full creative potential.

We encourage diverse artistic inquiries and invite applicants to specialize in one or combine multiple disciplines, such as ceramics, drawing and painting, metalwork and jewelry, digital media, photography, printmaking, or sculpture. Upon admission, students join an interdisciplinary community where they pursue intensive studio work while broadening their understanding of art history and critical theory.
