Engage in groundbreaking research through one of Texas' top sociology programs. Our graduate curriculum prepares students for academic careers and practical sociology applications. You'll collaborate directly with professors on studies covering diverse fields like gender studies, racial and ethnic relations, global research, urban development, population studies, aging, workplace dynamics, family structures, and environmental sociology. The MA and MS programs provide comprehensive training across sociological disciplines while fostering professional research skills. Those aiming for a PhD after their master's are advised to complete a thesis, which involves core coursework plus 15 additional credit hours and a defended thesis. Alternatively, the non-thesis path requires 30 course hours and culminates in a comprehensive examination administered by your advisory committee.
