The University of North Texas Interdisciplinary Information Science Ph.D. Program (IS Ph.D. Program) addresses the diverse and evolving demands of the digital era by offering a Journalism Concentration in collaboration with the UNT Mayborn School of Journalism. This specialization enables interdisciplinary education, research, and professional development in journalism. It cultivates highly skilled scholars equipped to investigate the informational dimensions of journalism.
Developed in partnership with UNT Mayborn School of Journalism, the University of North Texas Information Science Ph.D. Program with a journalism concentration meets the dynamic requirements of our information-driven society, acknowledging the growing importance of data and digital tools in personal, social, economic, and cultural contexts. The program attracts students from diverse academic backgrounds, fostering the development of expertise in emerging interdisciplinary areas of information science. Given the complex nature of this field, the curriculum draws upon resources, courses, and faculty from multiple academic departments.

identify IS Ph.D. faculty that you would like to study with
research, professional, or community experiences that demonstrate motivation, commitment, and potential for doctoral work
accomplishments (publications, presentations, awards)
communication skills including multilingual proficiency, technology skills, and contribution to the diversity of the field
