Students in Human Development and Family Science gain comprehensive understanding of human growth, family dynamics, and relational systems, equipping them for diverse careers across local organizations, nonprofits, and government sectors. The UNT College of Education holds accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (1140 19th St., Suite 400, Washington, D.C. 20036, phone 202-223-0077), demonstrating its commitment to meeting rigorous educational standards. Recognized as a leading institution in Texas, the college produces exceptional educators, administrators, counselors, and school professionals.
During your final year, you'll participate in an internship course offering hands-on professional experience and guidance, allowing you to implement your acquired knowledge in practical environments. This internship requires 150 hours of field work at various sites including churches, government offices, human service agencies, private companies, nonprofits, or educational institutions. You can also pursue certification as a Family Life Educator via the National Council on Family Relations or work toward Early Childhood Interventionist qualifications by selecting specialized courses within our degree program.
