Discover your musical potential and launch your career at one of the country's top music schools. The Harpsichord department strives to cultivate complete musicians by nurturing students' development as solo performers while equipping them with essential skills to excel as collaborative artists. A UNT Harpsichord degree offers comprehensive training in solo repertoire across all national styles (Italian, French, German, English, Spanish, etc.) from Renaissance to early Classical periods, along with extensive continuo performance practice with period ensembles and vocalists.
Harpsichord students enjoy abundant performance opportunities, including solo recitals, continuo work with the Baroque Orchestra and Collegium Singers, participation in early music chamber groups, and accompaniment for various student degree recitals.
Beyond private harpsichord lessons, the curriculum includes specialized courses in Performance Practice, Basso Continuo, Improvisation and Ornamentation, Harpsichord Literature, plus hands-on training in harpsichord Tuning and Maintenance.
