UNC Greensboro offers three pathways for students in the Master of Science in Nutrition program: a 37-hour thesis track, a 38-hour combined M.S./DI option, or a 40-hour non-thesis alternative.
The thesis-based M.S. provides research training, equipping graduates for careers in teaching, research, administration, consulting, or further doctoral studies.
The integrated M.S./DI program merges the Master's degree with the Dietetic Internship Post-baccalaureate certificate, featuring Master's coursework in the first year followed by DI curriculum in the second.
The non-thesis M.S. prepares students for nutrition consulting, administrative, and practitioner roles. Those pursuing dietetics must earn the R.D. credential. Completing the required coursework makes students eligible for our Post-baccalaureate certificate (P.B.C.-DI) supervised practice program. After finishing both supervised practice and their Master's degree, graduates can take the national exam to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs).
All students entering the masters and doctoral degree programs must have background-supporting courses in
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL: internet based - 79, or paper based - 550. A score of at least 6.5 is required on the IELTS.
