The Master of Public Administration program offers comprehensive education and professional training for careers in public service and nonprofit organizations. Through scholarly research and practical applications, it advances the field of public administration while serving community needs. Students can specialize in various concentrations including Non-Profit Leadership, Urban Governance & Policy, Arts Administration, Crisis Management, and Public Financial Management.
To earn the degree, candidates must complete 39 credit hours of graduate study across three sequential phases: (1) foundational core courses, (2) specialized electives, and (3) a research component. The curriculum examines crucial subjects such as governmental structures and legal frameworks, socioeconomic factors, organizational leadership strategies, public financial systems, and data-driven decision-making tools. Up to six (6) pre-admission graduate credits may count toward degree requirements with program director approval. All students must fulfill a professional experience component through either an approved internship or relevant work engagement (refer to Professional Involvement and Internship options). Beyond coursework, each candidate must develop and present a substantive research project.
