The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Child and Family Studies: Early Education is designed for those holding a bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or similar disciplines.
This M.Ed. program equips professionals for leadership roles supporting young children, including those with disabilities, and their families. The flexible part-time format accommodates working students seeking advanced credentials. This graduate program serves educators and service providers in early childhood settings (infant through kindergarten) with inclusive classrooms, administrators of family-focused agencies, consultants, parent educators, inclusion specialists, program coordinators, supervisors, and training professionals. It also prepares candidates for Child Life Specialist certification (via the Child Life Council) and develops research skills for child/family program leadership. Applicants with an existing Birth-Kindergarten license qualify for North Carolina's SP2 Professional Educator's License (B-K) upon completion, as granted by the NC Department of Public Instruction.
