The Respiratory Therapy major equips graduates from associate-level respiratory therapy programs who hold the RRT certification with advanced knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and communication expertise to take on leadership roles in respiratory education, management, research, and specialized clinical practice. The curriculum focuses on elevating students' professional growth in respiratory therapy by providing additional training in professional writing, instructional methods, healthcare leadership, evidence-based research, analytical evaluation techniques, and advanced critical care. This fully online degree is delivered through the Office of Distance Education and the Department of Kinesiology. Applicants must be licensed respiratory therapists with RRT certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care. The program concludes with a capstone project tailored to each student's professional focus area, where they master the research process and present their final clinical, educational, administrative, or population-based work before graduating. Dedicated faculty members are passionate about shaping students into the future leaders of respiratory therapy.
