The Fire and Safety Engineering Technology (FSET) program at UNC Charlotte equips BSET graduates for diverse career paths in various technological fields. This program focuses on both technical and non-technical elements within fire and safety disciplines. Students can specialize in Fire Safety, Fire Protection, or Occupational Safety concentrations. Lower-level courses are generally shared across concentrations, while upper-level coursework enables focused study in the selected specialization. The Fire Safety concentration targets students pursuing fire service careers, with a curriculum structured to develop leadership and management capabilities for advancing roles. The program also offers extensive coursework covering fire dynamics, active and passive protection systems, and fundamental research investigation principles. Graduates who fulfill this concentration's requirements will have a special Fire Safety concentration designation noted on their official transcripts.
