The Culture, Society, and Space research cluster examines how spaces and places are created, investigating how regions and landscapes are influenced by social and economic forces along with related power structures involving race, gender, and cultural dynamics. Those interested in human geography can concentrate their academic work around specialized topics and course groupings in cultural, social, economic, and political geography. Furthermore, exploring social spaces exposes students to diverse subjects including geography's historical and philosophical foundations, health policy, cultural analysis and religious studies, gender and feminist perspectives, racial dynamics and postcolonial thought, as well as science and technology research.
