Syracuse political geographers explore the multifaceted dimensions of citizenship, development, and governance across various scales. Our research investigates the intricate, sometimes conflicting mechanisms shaping the circulation of capital, migration patterns, and knowledge distribution, along with the historical and spatial frameworks that influence place-making and identity formation.
A key focus lies in analyzing the disparities generated by these global movements and their reciprocal relationship with spatial organization. Addressing social equity concerns, much of our work examines historically excluded regions and populations within national and global frameworks, alongside strategies communities employ to challenge or reshape these dynamics of power.
