The Biology Department provides several degree paths for majors or secondary majors, including a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), and a specialized Quantitative Biology BS track tailored for students focusing on mathematical and computational approaches to biological research. A biology minor is available as well. While students can concentrate their studies in diverse biological fields—such as animal behavior, cell biology, ecology, genetics, marine biology, neurobiology, and more—the department does not issue specialized degrees for these sub-disciplines. The BS program specifically prepares students for advanced studies in biological or health-related graduate programs.
All students will be expected to have completed the pre-university curriculum (Secondary School/High School) in their country prior to enrolling at UNC-Chapel Hill. English Language Tests: TOEFL minimum is 100; IELTS minimum is 7.0; PTE minimum is 68.
