Our most rigorous program, the Bachelor of Music serves as the conventional path for aspiring musicians aiming for advanced and professional music education. Students can specialize in diverse fields including composition, music history, instrumental/vocal performance, and jazz studies, making this degree perfect for building a strong musical foundation. The Music Department collaborates with the School of Education to offer this comprehensive program. At UNC, future music teachers first develop their musicianship through the Bachelor of Music curriculum before mastering pedagogical techniques to inspire young artists and share their musical passion. Typically, around 35 students enroll annually in these teacher preparation courses.
