The Bachelor of Arts in Music provides a highly adaptable program that allows students to blend diverse academic interests. Those enrolled in this degree frequently pair it with majors like biology, chemistry, history, economics, pre-med, pre-pharmacy, pre-dentistry, global studies, psychology, and numerous other fields. Requiring fewer courses than the Bachelor of Music, this option is ideal for students who want to explore music at the university level alongside another discipline. Aspiring educators can pursue their objectives through the Music Department's Bachelor of Music program in collaboration with the School of Education. UNC's future music teachers develop their musical expertise via the undergraduate Bachelor of Music curriculum while gaining skills to inspire young musicians and share their passion for music. Each year, around 35 students form a dedicated cohort taking specialized courses to become educators.
