Media and Cultural Studies examines the historical, theoretical, and cultural frameworks surrounding audio, visual, digital, and popular media creation and consumption. This field explores aesthetic analysis, media production and audience engagement, as well as the dynamics of power in daily life. Department scholars investigate diverse media entities across global, national, and local levels, analyzing their objectives and influence within evolving communication technologies. Alongside theoretical studies, undergraduate students gain practical skills in multiple production formats including narrative films, documentaries, experimental works, motion graphics, digital media, and sound design. The program features robust opportunities including a Hollywood internship initiative and a specialized minor in screenwriting for both theater and cinema.
