The Biology Department provides several degree paths for majors or secondary majors: a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), plus a Quantitative Biology specialization within the BS program (designed for students focusing on mathematical and computational approaches to biological systems). A biology minor is available as well. While students can concentrate on numerous biological specialties—including animal behavior, biomechanics, botany, cellular biology, developmental biology, ecology, evolutionary studies, genetics, genomics, marine science, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, organismal biology, physiology, and plant science—the department does not issue separate degrees for these specialized fields.
