Students majoring in Romance Languages can complete a portion of their academic requirements through international university programs like Glories of France (Montpellier) or UNO's Summer School in Costa Rica (San Ramn). Internship opportunities exist where students can earn academic credit by applying their language skills in community settings, such as at the French Consulate, Franco-American Chamber of Commerce, or the Red Cross.
The department operates a cutting-edge Foreign Language Lab and regularly provides online courses. Three Spanish faculty members pioneered the first U.S.-created digital interactive textbook for foundational Spanish language learning.
Alumni pursue careers in education, public relations, advertising, hospitality, and translation (including positions with the State Department). Top-performing graduates often advance to our Master of Arts program in Romance Languages.
