Our Ph.D. Program in Evolution & Society primarily concentrates on two key areas: evolutionary psychology (including mate selection, menstrual cycle impacts, hormonal factors, and social effects on pain perception) and early childhood development (such as identity formation and emotional growth). The curriculum features graduate seminars on subjects like cutting-edge evolutionary psychology, in-depth social psychology, developmental psychology studies, childhood psychological disorders, human emotional processes, genetic influences on behavior, and personality research.
Entry into the Evolution & Society program is extremely selective, with doctoral candidates encouraged to immediately engage in research activities, academic publishing, and conference presentations. Participants enjoy exceptional chances to work alongside Psychology department faculty across specialized fields (including cognitive neuroscience, addiction studies, health psychology, pain research, and antisocial behavior analysis), as well as distinguished professors from affiliated departments (like Anthropology, Biology, and Psychiatry). The program provides rigorous statistical training and offers valuable hands-on experience with neuroimaging techniques, genetic testing, hormonal measurements, physiological monitoring, digital survey tools, and various other investigative approaches.
