The UNM College of Education & Human Sciences (COEHS) program is dedicated to equipping future educators to address the varied requirements of New Mexico's youth. We honor the state's vibrant cultural heritage and have tailored our coursework to accommodate these distinctive characteristics. Our secondary Education student teaching initiative serves as a dual learning experience, bridging classroom practice with university theory. We aim to seamlessly integrate the knowledge gained in academic settings with hands-on experience supervised by seasoned Cooperating Teachers. This program develops professionals capable of instructing middle and high school students (typically grades 7-12, varying by district or state guidelines), offering comprehensive training that covers both general pedagogy and specialized subject instruction.
