The Master of Science in National Security, pioneered in 2001 as the first program of its kind, is led by faculty renowned for their academic expertise and real-world intelligence community experience. This program offers comprehensive training in both domestic and global security matters, along with other critical areas. Participants gain invaluable insights from seasoned professionals with backgrounds in organizations like the FBI, CIA, United Nations, Connecticut State Police, private forensic labs, and security firms. Whether you're advancing your security career or starting fresh, the curriculum equips you with essential competencies for success in intelligence work. Before graduating, students must fulfill either an internship, research project, or thesis requirement. Research opportunities span national defense, public protection, crisis response, and domestic security, among others. The program's Information Protection and Security concentration enables focused study on cybersecurity and safeguarding intelligence data systems.
Applicants must have official university transcripts and proof of bachelor’s degree completion. TOEFL of 80, or IELTS of 6.5, or PTE of 53 is required.
