The University of New Haven consistently promotes cross-disciplinary education. To develop comprehensive skills in both business administration and industrial engineering, students can pursue concurrent degrees through this specialized dual degree initiative.
This curriculum is designed for candidates holding ABET-accredited engineering or technical undergraduate degrees (or equivalent qualifications). Participants should possess advanced mathematical knowledge up to calculus level. Individuals needing mathematical preparation must complete supplementary approved courses (such as MATH 6610 - Calculus Fundamentals) beyond standard program requirements.
Candidates from non-industrial engineering backgrounds must either complete specific undergraduate coursework or prove competency in standard industrial engineering undergraduate subjects.
Responding to industry's increasing need for professionals with both engineering proficiency and business knowledge, the University established this combined MBA/M.S.I.E. program. The 71.5-credit curriculum (with possible waivers for up to 10.5 credits) integrates 35.5 business foundation credits covering management, finance, and accounting with 36 industrial engineering credits in subjects like operations research, quality control, and system modeling.
Admission requires an ABET-accredited engineering or technical bachelor's degree. Participants undertake distinct MBA and industrial engineering research projects, selected with faculty guidance, which serve as capstone experiences synthesizing program learning. Numerous previous projects have addressed regional industry challenges.
Applicants must have official university transcripts and proof of bachelor’s degree completion. TOEFL of 80, or IELTS of 6.5, or PTE of 53 is required.
Application deadline: Spring Deadline - November 15 (Priority Application Deadlines).
