If you're fascinated by the scientific exploration of human behavior in all its diverse forms, you'll excel as a psychology major at the University of New Haven. You'll gain insights into understanding and explaining people's thoughts and emotions. The program covers psychological approaches including clinical, cognitive, developmental, personality, physiological, and social perspectives. These academic concepts come alive through hands-on experiences in labs, clinics, and real-world situations.

Psychology Knowledge Foundation Students will become acquainted with core concepts, theoretical viewpoints, research findings, ethical guidelines, and historical developments in psychology. Psychological Research Techniques Students will grasp and implement fundamental research methodologies, including study design, data evaluation, and interpretation. Analytical Thinking in Psychology Students will employ critical and creative reasoning, skeptical analysis, and scientific methods to address challenges involving behavior and mental processes. Psychology Communication Skills Students will develop professional written and oral communication abilities for discussing psychological concepts.

Submit at least one letter of recommendation from an academic source (teacher or guidance counselor). Submit a personal essay. The essay is an opportunity for us to get to know you as a person, not just your grades and test scores. It also gives us an example of how you express yourself and demonstrates your ability to organize your thoughts. The personal essay should be between 250 and 650 words on a topic of your choice.
