The Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders equips students for professional roles as speech-language pathologists across diverse environments like educational institutions, medical centers, and private clinics. These specialists address a wide spectrum of communication challenges, assisting clients of all ages - from those with feeding/swallowing issues to individuals pursuing voice modification for gender affirmation or professional purposes. Our curriculum offers comprehensive foundational training combined with customizable electives to specialize in specific interest areas. Students begin acquiring practical clinical skills from their initial semester onward. With growing demand in healthcare, education, and research sectors, graduates discover abundant fulfilling career paths.
Our program prioritizes three core pillars: academic instruction, clinical practice, and scientific investigation. Graduate students engage with cutting-edge research in our fully-equipped laboratories while gaining hands-on experience through supervised clinical rotations at the UNH Speech-Language-Hearing Center and Neurogenic Communication Disorders Clinic. The program includes two externships in settings ranging from early childhood programs to healthcare institutions. Our graduates maintain perfect pass rates on the Praxis examination and achieve 94% employment placement post-graduation.
