Our juris doctor program emphasizes practical learning, with courses led by distinguished faculty members—most of whom bring significant professional experience—alongside hands-on legal clinics and an expansive externship initiative that delivers real-world training. Eligible students may participate in the innovative Daniel Webster Scholar program, the nation's sole competency-based alternative to the traditional bar exam. Participants develop their expertise through simulations and actual legal scenarios (including client consultations, attorney collaborations, deposition-taking, court appearances, and mediation), compiling portfolios of written and oral work evaluated each semester by bar examiners. Graduates of the DWS program are admitted to the New Hampshire Bar prior to commencement, enabling them to begin practicing law immediately after graduation.
