The graduate certificate in substance use disorders (SUD) equips students to address a critical societal need. You'll gain skills matching the core competencies required by the New Hampshire Board of Licensing for Alcohol and Other Drug Use Professionals, covering areas like client assessment, treatment strategy development, case coordination, emergency response, documentation, and counseling for individuals, families, and groups. The curriculum explores addiction origins, policy evaluation, evidence-based approaches, systemic frameworks, and empowerment methodologies. This program deepens your understanding of substance abuse while developing practical treatment skills.
Through the Substance Use Disorders Graduate Certificate, students acquire both broad knowledge and specialized techniques for this vital field. The program focuses on key areas including client evaluation, care plan creation, resource coordination, emergency management, and therapeutic interventions for diverse client populations.
International applicants must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent as a precondition for applying to any of our graduate programs. In some cases, you may also need a master’s degree or its equivalent.

Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
Applications must be completed by the following deadlines in order to be reviewed for admission: Fall: July 1; Spring: Dec. 1; Summer: April 1.
