Public service fundamentally involves working for the collective benefit of society. This academic area caters to students who are engaged community members seeking to tackle societal challenges. Grounded in political science, sociology, history, and economics, public service education equips students for diverse career paths in government, education, legal fields, nonprofit organizations, and beyond.
UNH's practical public service and nonprofit leadership program focuses on cross-disciplinary, real-world applications, examining how individuals and organizations collaborate within governmental and community frameworks to solve modern social issues. Designed for convenience, the program delivers all core courses and select Discovery Program options entirely online with scheduled evening sessions. By participating in internships and service projects across government agencies, legal institutions, and nonprofits, public service students hone essential abilities like analytical reasoning, solution development, community involvement, effective communication, research methodologies, collaborative work, and leadership. Graduates emerge ready for public sector or nonprofit careers, or for further studies in public administration, policy development, community planning, and related fields.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
English Language Score:
Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (internet version), 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version); recommended minimum IELTS score is 6.5; recommend Duolingo score is 105 or higher.
