This program is designed for students passionate about planning, building, and maintaining infrastructure that enhances human life while preserving our environment. Civil engineers develop water purification systems, transportation networks, underground structures, architectural foundations, and ecological restoration projects.
Students majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering can earn an Honors-in-Major distinction, which appears on their diplomas and transcripts alongside potential Greek honors. Honors courses (marked with an H, such as CEE 650H) involve supplementary academic requirements beyond standard coursework. These may include advanced lab work, research initiatives, analytical projects, comprehensive literature reviews, technical papers, presentations, or proposal development. To enroll in an honors course, students must consult with the instructor to establish mutually agreed-upon additional academic expectations.
