For those aspiring to create captivating music for bands, orchestras, choirs, films, video games, or avant-garde chamber groups, the Bachelor of Music in Composition offers the perfect path. UNH's composition program strengthens foundational knowledge through core courses in music theory, analysis, and history while prioritizing compositional development and performance growth. This degree is ideal for students pursuing professional composition careers or planning advanced graduate studies.
At UNH, composition students collaborate with renowned faculty and visiting composers while gaining performance opportunities. Each spring, the Undergraduate Research Conference showcases student compositions. Our diverse ensembles range from touring chamber groups to spirited marching bands, alongside regular visits from guest artists. The department also provides international study opportunities through our exchange program with Cardiff University in the UK.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
English Language Score:
Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (internet version), 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version); recommended minimum IELTS score is 6.5; recommend Duolingo score is 105 or higher.
