If you enjoy reading novels, have a passion for writing, or are intrigued by the evolution of the English language, pursuing an English degree could be ideal for you. This program provides comprehensive insights into English literature and its historical roots while honing your analytical abilities and persuasive writing techniques. As an English major, you'll master the craft of language, unlocking creative possibilities and addressing practical challenges.
UNH's English program emphasizes adaptability. Once core requirements are met, you can specialize in literature, various writing disciplines (like fiction, creative nonfiction, or poetry), or linguistic fields such as language development. Key features include intimate seminar-style classes focused on discussion and research, publishing and business internships, arts organization placements, and study abroad options in London.
Our English major has dual goals: equipping students with fundamental literary knowledge while allowing them to customize their academic path according to individual interests.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
English Language Score:
Minimum TOEFL score is 80 (internet version), 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version); recommended minimum IELTS score is 6.5; recommend Duolingo score is 105 or higher.
