For those passionate about teaching art, our studio art/art education degree option equips you for a career as a public school art instructor. During the initial four years, you'll dive into our studio art program, completing a bachelor's degree while exploring various artistic mediums. The curriculum includes foundational studies in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and woodworking. A fifth-year teaching internship fulfills the initial certification requirements for art educators in New Hampshire and numerous other states.
Our art education program follows a structured five-year teacher preparation sequence, specifically tailored for future public school art teachers. Completing the B.A. in studio art alongside mandatory education courses and the final internship year meets the initial certification standards for New Hampshire and most states. Note that certification requirements may evolve, and students must satisfy the regulations in effect when they apply. Art education majors can also enroll in accredited craft courses at other institutions as elective credits.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
