Art history explores artistic creations across different eras, and this program teaches you to examine, understand, and evaluate art within wider cultural and historical contexts. You'll engage in thorough studies of Western art from antiquity to modern times while also gaining insight into non-Western artistic practices. Graduates emerge ready for arts-related professions or advanced studies in disciplines like architecture, business, or law.
The art history program offers an extensive examination of Western artistic traditions from ancient civilizations to contemporary works, alongside introductions to non-Western art forms. Every course emphasizes interpretation techniques and analytical thinking, linking visual arts to broader historical movements while developing strong writing and research abilities. Many students complement their studies with subjects like history, literature, and foreign languages. Upon graduation, majors are prepared for conventional art history careers in museums, galleries, education, publishing, or libraries. The program's interdisciplinary nature also equips students for diverse paths in law, business, or architectural fields.
Each student must have their official high school diploma or general equivalency diploma.
