The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialization equips advanced practice nurses to treat patients and families facing behavioral and mental health challenges. This MSN program track trains graduates to evaluate, diagnose, treat (through psychotherapy and medication management), and monitor patients to maintain their wellbeing. PMHNPs deliver psychiatric services across diverse clinical environments including hospitals, correctional facilities, homes, and outpatient centers while collaborating with healthcare teams. Given the growing need for mental health services, particularly in underserved rural areas, PMHNPs fill a vital role in addressing the spectrum of psychiatric conditions.
