The Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering provides a Master of Science program in mining engineering. Students may choose to specialize in areas including mine design, rock mechanics, ventilation systems, computer applications, automation, material transport, mine administration, operations analysis, and mineral economics.
This graduate program equips students with core competencies in mine planning, ventilation systems, rock behavior analysis, and mineral resource assessment, alongside focused research opportunities. Graduates will complete either fundamental or practical research projects that influence mining industry methods, effectively presenting their findings through written reports and verbal presentations.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required in order to be accepted as a graduate student. Hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 for four years of undergraduate work.
Minimum score requirements: TOEFL: 550 (paper) or 79 (internet), IELTS: 6.5 (academic version).
